
Maddie Olsen is a textile artist and museum professional currently based in Dallas, Texas. Her creative practice synthesizes scientific research with traditional textile handicraft. Her work is informed by interspecies relationships, microbiology, and scientific illustration. She has shown work at MICA and Baltimore Clayworks, and presented research at Parsons School of Design and the MoMA in New York City.
Maddie received a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts from the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) in 2023. She is also an alumni of the Biodesign Challenge. Her collaborative research project, Mother Nacre, received the Glass Microbe Award at the Biodesign Challenge Summit in 2023. Her professional background in museum work has taken many forms from youth art educator to scientific interpreter. Currently, Maddie assists in day-to-day operations and exhibit development for the Toyota Experience Center in Plano, Texas.
